How do You do, Purba Mountain!

It had been a long time I wanted to go climbing up a mountain. I still remember the moment when my friend in high school told me, "Naik gunung tuh emang capek, Lis, penuh perjuangan. Tapi kalau udah nyampe atas, ngga nyesel pokoknya, udah ngga bisa ngomong apa-apa, dan ngga bakal kapok muncak". It was the first time I was looking forward to climb up a mountain! However, it is never easy to me since it is not as easy as visiting a friend's house. Moreover, time, fund, and energy become obstacles for me. One day, one of my friends told me that there is a (little) mountain, in Jogja, to climb it up for beginners. Only need for about 60 minutes to reach the top. She said that perhaps, it is not really a mountain, it looks rather like a kind of tourist attraction. At that day, she invited me and others to go there on the next day. Unfotunately, I had had an agenda on that day which meant I could not join them. Since then, I had a plan to go there.

It might be true that what we are thinking about can attract everything around us to make it comes true.  When I kept thinking about it, my classmate, suddenly, told me that she wanted to go to Purba Mountain. I immidiately screamed then told her that I wanted to, too. We made a plan soon after that!
Man can plan anything, it is God, however, who determines the destinies. The early plan that I made was fail. My classmates, Fulan, invited her friends to join us. Unfortunately, one of her friends suddenly informed that she could not go at that day. Thus, we rescheduled the time then decided to go climbing on April 9th which was coinciding with the election day.

At the morning, I had to take a mutation letter in the hamlet of Karangmalang's house to get the perforate permit. It was somewhat tiring since I have to go toing only to get the letter. At 8 o'clock, I finally got the letter and went away to the TPS (voting place). Yeay! My tip of little finger had been finally colored the purple ink. It was my first time to vote in the national election. Not really excited, but I had prepared for this a long time ago. After that, my friend and I were waiting for the other friend. We planned to go at 9 o'clock, but there was an obstacle that forced us to wait longer. I do not really remember at what o'clock we began to leave. Perhaps, it was around 10 o'clock. We need for about 60 minutes to get there. When we arrived there, we immidiately grabbed the ticket and started to climb up the mountain. Purba Mountain, here we come!

At the first minute, everything was going well. The track was flawless. We kept climbing up and up. First 15 minutes I started to feel tired, perhaps, it was because that was my first time to climb up the mountain. We decided to have a rest on a (maybe) big stone. There, i saw the scenery around me was green. Trees were looked high and so many. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the new atmosphere I just felt. Seeing that scenery was more than enough for me since I had never had such experience. All I usually see is many buildings in the suburb of Jogja. Moreover, in my hometown, I had never experienced something challenging in any natural attraction. I, again, looked around, then started to think of how it would be looked from the top of the mountain. However, because of my lack of experiences, my mind could not imagine that. About 10 minutes later, we continued the track.

I heard my own footsteps paced the track. It stamped about. The track was no longer flawless. We had to climb the wooden stairs with a big stone above it. When I saw it, I honestly thought, ‘what if the stone suddenly fall out?’ Fortunately, it was only in my mind. I kept walking following my friends. When I found stones that I should pass, I had just realized that I wore inappropriate shoes! I wore the shoes that usually I use to go to campus, seriously, I did not know that the track would be like that. Of course, wearing them was somewhat disturbing, I could almost fall out when passing the stones. Moreover, I also used the wrong clothes! I wore white sweater that more approperiate to use it in campus or one’s house. I was getting tired. Biking everyday to campus did not enough to make me fit and well seemingly. Up, up, and up. I was really exhausted. Had some water only vanished a little of the tiredness. Then suddenly something was running in my mind, ‘Gue ngga mau naik gunung lagi, gila sebegini capeknya baru separuh jalan!’ Fortunately, my friend did understand that I was tired. She walked slowly and shouted, ‘Ayo, semangat, El!’ I think, in the beginning of the track was more tiring than in the middle. Perhaps, it was because in the beginning, the track was flawless so I had to continously walk, whereas, in the middle, the track was no longer flawless, that made me to be careful and walked slowly. Yet, for me, it had been really tiring!

Continously climbing up made me motionless which meant I was getting really tired. My friend in front looked back and saw my face. Immidiately she said, ‘Muka kamu pucet, El. Mau istirahat dulu?’ I only responded, ‘Iya po?’ then continued to walk. We followed the people in front of us, but suddenly they stopped and told us that it was a wrong way. ‘Iki sih buntu, kowe ki piye e mas. Aduh, piye meh bali.’ One of them said. It seemed that they were somewhat panic. Yet, my friends and I, were not that so. I myself felt happy. Because of that, I could take (again) some rests. Fulan and I was sitting calmly. The other friend climbed up sort of really a big rock trying to look for where we should go. The people we followed had just gone down and looked for another way to get the top. After some minutes, we continued the track. My friend that had looked for the track from the big rock had known where we should go to get the top. Yeay! We took another way.

Right track! I saw some directions showing the way to the top. Then I passed a sign ‘Puncak, Mas Bro!’ I was really happy to see that. I was thinking of I finally reached the top after a looooong hard way. Felt like it had been really tiring. Sadly, the sign I saw was out of expectation. I thought it only needs several meters to get there after the sign. And yet, I was wrong. We had been walking more than 15 minutes, but the top had not been looked. I almost gave up. I asked my friends to stop for a while. I sat on a rock and immidiately had some water. I really did not know what I feel. My head was not dizzy, but it also was somewhat unusual. I felt like I did not want to walk any longer. My eyes was not sparkling like fireflies, but it was also not comfortable as usual. Then, I felt a little dizzy. I frickled my eyes and did not let my tounge was quiet. I tried to say something so that my mind was not empty. Then, after several minutes, I felt better then shouted to my friend, ‘Yuk, Ful, lanjut!’

I really wanted to go home, that was why I asked my friends to continue the trip. I really wanted to end this as soon as possible. All I wanted was going back home and sleeping! Walking several minutes from the place we used to take a rest, we finally found wooden staircase that connects to the top of the mountain. I carefully took a ride of it. Fulan, who was in front of me, first reached the top and immidiately screamed, ‘Kebayar, El!’ I did not really care about that. I still focused on my foot that was taking a ride the staircase. When it went to be the last stairway, I looked around me all green. I screamed out loud in my heart, ‘KEBAYAR! KEBAYAR BANGEEEEEEETTTTT!!

I was enchanted when I first saw it. It was really my first time to see such scenery. I could see clouds closer, feel the wind touch my face, and...and...aaaaaaa I really did not know what words to describe. I was happy, so happy. I was really enchanted to see this!

There are some people in there. As I said before that this mountain is a tourist attraction, so we could find a lot of people there, on the way or even on the top of the mountain. I sat beside Fulan. We sat right in front of another top of mountain enjoying the view. Ah, I forgot something! ‘Where is my tiredness?’ I really forgot about it! This was too awesome to be protested. I did not remember that I had been really exhausted. The view really made me speechless. Thus, I know why my friends told me that no matter how tired you were, you would never be disappointed after getting the top.

I still felt enchanted, so did Fulan. When I glanced up, I saw the sky hanging closer. Then I looked around and all I found was composure. Everything was green and really enjoying. I took up my bag and made it as a pillow. I lied on it. The clouds seemed to move faster. I closed my eyes. The wind touched my face softly. Then I suddenly felt that I am nobody. I am just a (very) little part of His creation. Really, there is no use of being conceited.

We got lunch together since we had already prepared and brought it from the house. Ah, seriously, this was the most beautiful lunch view I have ever had. Actually, I wanted to stay longer, but we had to take a prayer which meant we had to go down. Several minutes later after having the lunch, we prepared to get down. I set my bag and be ready to go down. Well, thank God for this amazing place. I will be right back, Purba Mountain!
